Sequencing and Analyzing Whole Genome Data from 500,000 UK Biobank Volunteer Participants

Friday November 3, 3:45-4:15 pm
CoLab Theater 2

At the end of November 2023, UK Biobank will make available the world’s largest single release of whole genome sequencing (WGS) data from 500,000 volunteer participants to approved scientific researchers. This groundbreaking release is the result of an ambitious collaboration between government, industry and charity funders to enable researchers to better understand the role of genetics for health outcomes and to advance drug discovery and development.

Join the session to learn about the new data that will be released and the other rich clinical, real-world, and molecular data such as proteomics already available for this cohort.

Attendees will also learn how to efficiently analyze the large-scale data using tools like Spark, JupyterLab, WDL, and Docker and cover the basics of different types of analysis such as GWAS, PheWAS and PRS.
